Everything you need to know about liposuction
Although it is not possible to speed up the time needed to get rid of unwanted weight with liposuction, but the process is well suited to free from unwanted fat locally. The method in no way should be seen as a kind of alternative to effortless weight loss, but rather shaping the figure.
The plastic surgery applies this procedure in many areas, combining it with several surgical techniques, to improve results and to achieve more complete tightness. Liposuction is used with good results especially in the chin, upper arms, abdomen, hips, thighs, buttocks and knee areas. After the surgery, only a few millimeters scar is left on the skin, but the results can be measured in centimeters.
What is liposuction?
It cannot be too often asserted, that liposuction is only recommended for body shaping and not intensive weight loss. During the procedure a maximum of about four liters of fat can be removed all at once, and the process can only bring its expected results when the skin has not loosen. In the event of weak connective tissue, experts in all cases recommend a combination of plastic surgeries, since good results are guaranteed in this way.
There are three different methods in liposuction, but during every version the surgeon inserts a drain through the pre-checked cuts, through which fat can be removed with vacuum. During the vacuum-controlled mechanical liposuction the skin is first loosened and then removed from the fat. Vibrational liposuction is slightly different.
During this method the cannula head vibrates to loosen up the fat tissue. The same method is used at the application of ultrasonic liposuction, but among all, the most popular and used is the first one, since it does not involve any side effects. Prior to the intervention, surgeons use minerals, anesthetic and astringent in the treatment area.
What preparations and analysis are needed before the procedure?
Prior to liposuction, you will have to undergo tests, which filter out all possible medical obstacles to any surgery. At the Budapest Plastic Surgery Centre we adjust to your schedule and you can run ECG, x-rays, lab tests at our clinic, when it’s the most appropriate for you.
It is important to drink enough fluids and support your immune system by taking dietary supplements, as this can be helpful when recovering from plastic surgery. In addition to the liposuction in some cases it may be useful to use ultrasonic body shaping treatments, which perfects the results.
The night after the liposuction you need to spend at our clinic for further observation and when going home you will get waterproof bandage on the wounds, so showering won’t be a problem. You will have to wear a flexible cloth on the affected area for at least one and a half months to ensure the skin is sticking. Occurrent pain can be treated with painkillers, and bloodshot will pass after about two weeks.
Although you can return to work after a few days, we normally recommend a week rest. Sauna and solarium should be avoided in the first few weeks. The final results of liposuction are developed in few months, but it is important to pay attention to healthy living, healthy meals and regular physical activity, to preserve the achieved figure in the long term.
